When Dianne Armstrong moved to Helena in 1972, just one day after graduating high school, she knew she found her forever home. Dianne worked her way through Carroll College as a nurse aide at St. Peter’s, graduating in 1977 with a degree in nursing. She continued at St. Peter’s Health serving patients as an RN for another 44 years in addition to her 4 yrs. as a nurse aide.
Now in retirement, she continues to care for others through a lasting legacy—supporting future nurses through educational scholarships. Dianne never forgot how difficult it was going to college full time while also working full time as a nurse aide. A new dream was born, that no St. Peter’s employee with a passion for nursing should face the same obstacles. To make this dream a reality, she established two endowed scholarships at St. Peter’s Health Foundation:
Dianne Armstrong Endowed Scholarship For Future Nurses available to St. Peter’s Health employees pursuing a career in nursing.
Dianne Armstrong Endowed Scholarship for Future Nurses Available to Helena College students entering RN and LPN programs, with the Helena College fund managed in partnership with the college and Foundation leadership.
Dianne has made significant lifetime gifts, to bolster the Helena College scholarship, helping bring both funds to near equal value. Others have joined Dianne supporting her dream and creating even more opportunities. Dianne continues to guide the growth and stewardship of her funds, working closely with Foundation staff to ensure students not only receive support, but feel encouraged and empowered. Her dedication extends beyond finances—she continues her role as guest speaker at Carroll and Helena Colleges, using her platform to advocate for compassion in healthcare, especially around addiction recovery. Dianne Armstrong’s legacy is generosity, vision, and compassion. Her lifetime contributions and her planned estate gift continue to create opportunities for aspiring nurses, helping shape a stronger, healthier future.
