Foundation Board of Directors

Melanie Hall

Treasurer

Melanie Hall, a Mississippi-girl by birth, moved to Helena, Montana, from New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2010.  In her current role as the Commissioner of the Montana Division of Banking and Financial Institutions, she is responsible for the supervision of all state-chartered banks and state-chartered credit unions with combined assets of over $80 billion.  In addition, the division licenses and examines over 2000 non-bank financial entities including mortgage and consumer finance companies.  She is passionate about exciting things like internal controls, financial literacy and economic education. Commissioner Hall joined the St. Peter’s Health Foundation Board to help ensure that people in the Helena area have a hospital that can meet their healthcare needs, invest in the community long-term and withstand the significant challenges in healthcare today.  As a cancer survivor, she understands the incredible importance of having providers who embrace state-of-the-art care.

Commissioner Hall obtained her B.A. in Economics from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, and her juris doctor from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She is past-Chair of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and past-Chair of the CSBS Education Foundation Board.  She also serves on the Board of the Montana Council on Economic Education.  In her spare time, she loves watching her daughter play sports and floating on the Blackfoot River.
